  • ZZ Top

zz top First things first, I did not take this picture; however this is exactly what ZZ Top looked like when my sweety and I went to see them and Los Lonely Boys in concert Sunday night.  I really wanted to see Los Lonely Boys, because wow, they are talented and I love their music.  I wanted to see ZZ because they were a part of my youth and really liked them then.  I also wanted to take John to his first concert.  He has seen a few people in bars and stuff, but never in a coliseum.  I was worried he would not enjoy it.  I was wrong, he had a great time.  The only downer was the temperature of Kay Yeager.  You forget that thing is on an ice rink, and the a/c was set to keep it from thawing I guess.  4 hours later with slight hypothermia we headed home. Sean and A.J. went also and they had a great time.  I thought it was cool that I can do this with my kids and we all like the same music.  I have to admit something too, when I first saw ZZ Top enter the stage I had flash backs of Rolling Stones at the super bowl, I thought, jeez these guys are somebody's Paw Paw.  They sounded great and put on a good show without embarrassing themselves, like the Stones did.  (Just my opinion)  Los Lonely Boys were also great, but only sang like 6 songs...  I would have liked to have heard more.  They did a song called "Texican Style" http://www.loslonelyboys.org/storemp3/sacred/7%20-%20texican%20style%20(0m%2046s).mp3  if this works you can click on it and hear a bit of it.  It's too cool.

  • Sean

sean  This is my youngest Sean.  About 3 years ago (on a whim) his father bought him a bass guitar and an amp.  I was irritated because I thought is was a frivolous spend and something that he would get bored with within a week.  I think it was a couple of days later he came down stairs and played me the National Anthem.  I asked him who taught him that and he said he figured it out.  I realized immediately that he had a natural gift.  I signed him up for lessons and after a few months he was playing Pink Floyd's "Money" at a recital.  Fast forward 3 years and he now owns several guitars.  His favorite is the electric acoustic.  He floored me when he played Green Day's "Good Riddance"  I just had no idea how good he was getting.  He is currently working on Classical Jazz, what a talent.  His favorite picture is below.

  • For those of you who know me, you also know that I have a husband who can pretty much do anything.  He is a carpenter, mechanic, clock maker, sailor, computer wiz, and the list goes on.  He is most passionate about cooking.  He truely missed his calling and should have been a chef.  Yesterday, while enjoying a rare day off together he wanted to know what I wanted for dinner.  He was craving sea food, I can eat sea food everyday.  So off to the store he went.  We had fresh lobster (I felt bad for the little guys, until I started eating them) stuffed crab, broiled broccoli and a crab stuffed poblano pepper, with twisted parmesian bread sticks.  Dinner was outstanding and so is my hubby.misc 071 misc 069

The cool thing about my life is one minute I am training as a hostage negotiator, the next I am photographing a wedding shower.  I really enjoy the fact that I am able to do this.  Mindi is a real sweet girl and very funny and I am happy I was able to share this day with her and her mother.

  • Hostage Training

    HNT

I spent last week in Plainview for TDCJ's yearly hostage negotiation training.  I complain about going every year, but once it gets started I am always glad that I get to do what I do.  The reality is that I work in a dangerous environment, and bad things can happen.  We had an outstanding group this year and I hope that we never have to use the skills that we train for; but in a crisis I would want these people helping me out.
