I love having a day off with my sweety and my son.  We did a little yard work today and My sweety made me something that I have been wanting for a while.  First things first.

Sean had an Ag project in school to make a stepping stone.  He chose the German flag, which represents my Mom's heritage.  I think it looks pretty darn good.  Now we want to make all the stones in the yard a flag to represent each of us.

I have been wanting a bottle tree for quite some time.  Slaves from the Congo in Africa brought the idea of the traditional bottle trees -- live trees with colored bottles on the ends of branches -- into this country. Bottle trees protected the homes from evil spirits by trapping spirits inside the bottles, where they could do no harm.  The bottle trees disappeared as bulldozers razed emptied tenant houses as farming mechanized and became less dependent on a human work force. Today, the bottle trees sprout from steady metal bases and branches that end in colored bottles. My sweety made mine today....
